Lest We Forget Memorial Display
Remembrance Day
2005

The display, located in the Charleville Town Hall began on Remembrance Day 2005 and was open daily for several weeks. The chief aim was to inform children and encourage all to research the stories of their friends and relatives. Over the period several classes of schoolchildren visited. Many returned two, three or more times with classmates and/or families.
Trudy, her eighty years no barrier to the modern child held them spellbound as she told stories of young men and women who were just like them or their elder brothers and sisters. Several children recognised stories dimly heard from elders in their families and went off to follow them up. All were quiet and eager to learn with questions flying thick and fast.
Local adults were pleased to see their stories (and those of their relatives) recognised and contributed material which could be used in this and subsequent displays.
